Dear family / friends
We did today attend a Community Information Session at the Coroner’s Court, Melbourne being held for families of lost loved ones in the fires.
The session was to provide info on the process of identification, the role of the coroner, the Disaster Victim Process and timeframes.

The session was of a general nature only and they did tell us 87 have so far been identified and families notified.
Last week we did lodge an application for a progress report, at which stage we were told it takes 7 -10 days.  We did chat to one the representatives at the meeting about that and she was going to follow that up.  So we are hopeful of some information in the next week.

Personally I think it could be some time before we find out by the way they described the identification process and we are not rushing for every phone call hoping it is the Coroner’s office.

Once we have the progress report we will let you all know.

 Regards

 Gary and Robyn

We have received a message from the Gary & Robyn Brown. They advise that there is still not date set for the funerals and will advise as soon as the remains are released.

They have also requested that No Flowers be sent, instead, a donation may be made to a fund that they are setting up to re-establish the library at Eric and Matthews School at Kinglake. We shall also bring you information on this as it comes to hand

BROWN FAMILY MEMORIAL SERVICE

Tuesday 7th April 2009

We finally received a progress report from the Coroner’s Office late last week. It is not good news I’m afraid and I only give brief details here.

The report stated that 4 of the bodies found are inter-twined and dental records plus DNA are not conclusive for identification due to the intense heat of the fire. They are calling in anthropologist [ Bone structure expert] so at to identify remains for each body.

They cannot give us a timeline but we believe this will be a lengthy process to undertake. Then they will consider the circumstantial evidence last.

Robyn and I are certain of cause that the 5 bodies in the house are our beautiful loved ones and do realise the need for the Coroner to go through all the processes.

Therefore we have decided to go ahead with a Memorial Service

Details are:
St Francis Catholic Church
90 Mayora Road
Montmorency Vic

Date: Wednesday 22 April
Time: 10.30 am

No flowers please. There will be envelopes available for donations to the Library of the Middle Kinglake Primary School which the boys attended and was burnt to the ground. Direct debit details are available from GJ50.

Thank you all for your support and prayers over the last 2 months.
