For such a tragedy to strike such a wonderful family is beyond comprehension.
You shall always be part of our committee and we will be putting in that extra effort on your behalf.

Oh, what can one say at such a time?
Words can not express the loss of this wonderful family.
Our heartfelt sympathy and condolences go out to their parents Gary, Robyn, Gail & Santo and Grand Mother Marion.
To their siblings, friends and acquaintances who will all be mourning their loss.
In our household, like many others, we still have not fully accepted this tragedy.
As the days pass and reality sets in, let us all comfort each other and continue the work that this couple has started.
Rest In Peace

Tim and I are deeply saddened to hear of tragic news, we saw Adrian on Saturday, and he had big smile on his face and looked as though he never had a care in the world. I just can’t believe that this has happened.
We were camped at the showground’s for the country music festival and saw first hand the size of the fire coming on the horizon. Little did we know that it was going to strike Kinglake. We left before the evacuations.
Adrian & Mirri along with the children were a fine young family, this is the most tragic loss not only to their immediate families, but also to the wider square dance community, they will be deeply missed.
Our deepest sympathy to their families.
Tim & Lorraine Lowry VIC
A real loss
Adrian & Mirrabelle have contributed more to square dancing than one could ever be envisaged in their time with us. Whilst Adrian served on many committees local, state & national, Mirrabelle was always supporting him.
They were devoted to all things which they were involved with, but it was family first, then community & square dancing. They will always be remembered for their commitment and devotion in whatever they did.
We will miss their presence at the National conventions and sharing the good times but we will always treasure those memories.
For us personally we will miss spending time with them all for the week of the National Convention and being part of the extended family.
They will be sadly missed by us all;
Our thoughts are with Marion, Gary, Robyn, Gail, Santo and their families

It is with agony and heartache that I and I am sure all Square Dancers receive this very sad news, it is more than Squares Around Victoria, it is Squares Around Australia and even the world who will be saddened by this tragic news and loss of such a lovely loving family.
Likewise my prayers and condolences go to Gary, Robyn, Marion, Gail and Santo and to all those who were close to Adrian, Mirabelle and the children.
Sincerely yours,

To Gary, Robyn, & Marion, our sincere condolences & thoughts are with you all on this very sad occasion. Victoria especially & the Australian Square Dance scene have lost two great ambassadors in Adrian & Mirabelle. It is hard to come to grips that a family that has had three generations so heavily involved in this fantastic activity has had such terrible pain cast upon them. A family of five, lives cut short by this terrible event.
To Gail & Santo again our condolences & thoughts are reflected on your lives as the family bonds have been broken.

It is very hard to understand why this happened but it has been a terrible shock to both Jan and myself. Andrew rang us yesterday and he was un-consolable and had to be sent home from work.
We didn’t realise that Andrew and Adrian kept in contact via the internet an many occasions. He is better today but something like this can never be forgotten but maybe we can accept what has happened as the days go on.
We commend you for putting a tribute together and would like to ask if you could sent two copies to me please, one for Andrew and one for myself.
yours sincerely

To both Adrian and Mirrabelle’s families,

It is sad, but nice to know, that the March SAV will be dedicated to Adrian and family:
Val & I are quite upset about the whole thing as no doubt all the square dance world are.
We got the news after learning that a close friend at St. Andrews had lost everything and was lucky to get out alive after staying to try and save his home, from there the news just got worse.
We started a meeting with a minute silence for the victims last night, and are trying to arrange with the Red Cross or the Salvo’s to help with fire victims collection tins for the Yarraville Festival net Saturday.
Also Philip & Sue Whyte have closed their club tonight as a result.
To Marion, Gary, Robyn, Gail, Santo and your families,Our very deepest sympathy on the tragic loss of your loved ones. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Hi folks
I see that many clubs have now set dates to conduct memorial dances. Whilst this is a wonderful idea I trust that consideration is given to not encroaching on other club nights/events. Whatever money you raise and donate will be most gratefully received; the amount does not need to be a ‘measuring stick’. PLEASE do not make this a ‘fundraising competition’.
Adrian and Mirrabelle were the least egotistical, competitive people I have met and we need to remember this.
When you hold your minute’s silence, why not make a circle/circles, put your arms around each other, and in that minute you share together as one, united for the same reason, either send a prayer, send your love by ESP, or your energy to the memory of this beautiful family and especially to their grieving families both in Victoria and the ACT. None of us can comprehend the sadness and despair these families are experiencing.

Adrian, Mirrabelle, Eric, Matthew and Brielle Brown
Words do not quite express the sadness we are all experiencing at this time. Two beautiful young adults and their three delightful children taken when they had so much ahead, so much to live for. Adrian and Mirrabelle were, to us all, the future of our great hobby of dancing.
The scales of Life are very hard to balance at this time.
One could only imagine at what age we would have seen Eric, Matthew and Brielle on the dance floor. We had already had a taste of their willingness to participate at the Conventions they attended.
It was a pleasure to work with Adrian. He was the quiet achiever; fair, understanding and accommodating at all times. The RDAV worked in unison with Adrian and found him, at all times to be a most supportive and competent person. Nothing was ever too much trouble for Adrian. It was a pleasure to know and work with him.
Mirrabelle, a lovely natural lady, thoroughly enjoyed her round dancing and it was lovely to see Mother and daughter round dancing together at Conventions.
Mirrabelle and Adrian loved their dancing, but their priority was their family and dancing took second place to family commitments.
The RDAV, Executive Committee and members, expresses sadness and despair at the tragic loss of this fine family. To the families left to grieve, Robyn, Gary, Mel, Leanne, Marion, Gail, Santo and their extended families, we unite as one to send our love, prayers and hope that, in time, your broken hearts will mend and your wonderful memories will take you forward.

It is with Honour and Respect that we mourn the loss of Adrian & Mirrabelle Brown and their 3 children, Eric, Matthew and Brielle.
We had known Adrian for just short of 30 years when our involvement in square dancing first began to snowball in an official capacity. Particularly leading up to a convention, we attended meetings at Gary & Robyn’s and it was right from then that we understood what a loving and caring family they belonged to.
I remember thinking what a sweet couple Mirrabelle and Adrian made and how delighted Gary & Robyn and Santo & Gail must have been that their children had found love inside their square dance world.
It was during a convention that the big announcement was made – It’s a BOY! Eric Brown, named after Adrian’s grandfather. The hall erupted in cheers.
It seemed like no time before Matthew arrived and then Brielle. What a pretty name.
Adrian worked hard to follow in Gary’s footsteps within the square dance world and Mirri was always quietly there in the ground cheering him on with the children.
No words can express the sadness we all feel for Gary, Robyn, Leanne and Melanie, Santo & Gail, Marion and both extended families.
May they rest in peace.
Howard & Brenda Cockburn, family and dancers. – VIC
Our thoughts are with both the Brown and Guiliano families on the very sad and sudden tragic passing of Adrian and Mirrabelle Brown and their 3 treasured children Eric, Matthew and Brielle.

The reality of the tragic loss of Adrian, Mirrabelle, Eric, Matthew and Brielle Brown is still difficult to come to terms with.
These things should never happen to good people. Not only will they leave a hole in the square dance community but they also leave a hole in our hearts.
To their loved ones they leave behind – Gary, Robyn, Marion and family – our heartfelt condolences.
Working with Adrian was always a pleasure.
Never an unkind word.
Always dedicated to what he did.
Always the best that he could be.
Always in our memories in the years to come.
Always be missed.

Telling my children that Eric Matthew and Brielle Brown had perished in the bushfires was a very difficult task.
This poem is essentially the conversations I had with one of my children. The thoughtful silences and tears can be put in by the reader.
Always Remember
“Eric and Matthew were in the fires”
“Oh, did they survive?”
“No” “What, even the Baby?”
“No, even the baby has died.”
“Why didn’t they jump out the window?”
“The fire was outside.”
“Well, what could they do?”
“Nothing – there was no place to hide.”
“But I will miss them Mummy,
In crèche they were my friends.”
“I know – but what we must do
Is always remember them.”

We sadly express our sincere condolences to Marion, Robyn & Gary, Gail & Santo and their families on their tragic loss. We fondly remember Adrian as a very young boy at dances, the days when Adrian aged around 14-16 would visit our home, and our friendship continued through the years when we would catch up again at functions and conventions.
He always had a smile on his face and a hug to share. We also remember Mirrabelle as a little girl, watching her grow into a lovely young lady.
We remember each of their children being born and Adrian & Mirrabelle being very proud parents. It is beyond comprehension that all of them can be lost so unexpectedly. With our strong cherished memories, they will never be forgotten.

To both Adrian and Mirrabelle’s family and squaredance friends,
For some time, we have followed the television and newspapers about all the bush fires raging in Australia, which we seem as very sad and tragic. Even more; because it came so close to us last Sunday morning in our local newspaper, we was reading their names, as we did a few days before from the TAWS; Adrian & Mirribelle Brown, and their 3 children had died in the flames of Kinglake. We would like to bring our condolences to the family. We are deeply shocked.
We like up on the initiative, when we experienced that the Essendon- and Phoenix Squares arrange charity dances. We can’t unfortunately attend; the distance you know. Instead we have donated a small amount through them. Since we live and breathe for the square dancing we like it better, and feel, that the money would do more good in this manner, because we are convinced of the good deed on our hobbies, square dance, friendship set to music, instead of giving to any other collection here in Denmark.
We are a married couple from Denmark/Sweden that have been dancing squaredance for many years. We hope to see some of you on our holiday in Australia in a few months – maybe you are attending the 50th?

To Brown & Guiliano families,
We were shocked to hear of the tragic loss of Adrian, Mirrabelle, Eric, Matthew & Brielle in such incomprehensible circumstances.
We had got to know Adrian & Mirrabelle over the past three conventions. We felt a real connection to them by their down to earth view of everything, their honesty, helpfulness, approachability and enthusiasm for life & square dancing. To have met them was our privilege. To lose them to soon is everyone’s loss.
They will be greatly missed.

Dear Kevin,
I just read the tribute SAV issue to Adrian and Mirrabelle; and i would like to say that I feel you did a great job under such circumstances.
As someone who had known them for many years through square dancing I was very shocked and deeply saddened to hear of their passing and that of their children so tragically.
I can say that I had the privilege of attending their wedding some years ago, and I have fond memories of that joyous day.
To their families I extend the deepest sympathies of my family from here in Michigan, USA.
I also pass on those from people here in the local community in which I live.
We all hold everyone in our thoughts and prayers; especially the Brown and Guiliano families at this time. Once again I applaud you Kevin for the job you did in handling what I am sure was a difficult SAV issue to do.
God bless,

Pictures from Christmas New Horizons Playgroup December 2008. Mirrabelle bought presents for all the children and wrapped them and put them under the tree… that was her nature so kind, and caring.
I knew Mirrabelle and Brielle from the New Horizons Playgroup which Mirrabelle ran and organised so well, she always had a craft going for the kids and sat down and taught them how to do it… I remember the time she sat down and made scones with the kids, I thought she was so keen, the kids really enjoyed it.
She welcomed our Mothers Group in, and made it such a nice place for us to get together and enjoy the children playing. We really miss her and Brielle and will never forget her kindness and smiling happy face, she was always so happy.
Brielle was such a confident little girl, and Mirrabelle said it was because she had two older brothers so she had to stand up for herself, she became very fond of the new babies that were born late last year and always wanted a cuddle.
We all really miss them both, and are devastated for the loss of the family.
Our sincere condolences to their family and friends.
Linda and all the mums and kids at New Horizons Playgroup
